The Holocaust was one of the darkest moments in human history. It is vital that as the number of survivors gets ever smaller, we all work to ensure the next generation are told their stories, are educated about the Holocaust and learn the important lessons for today.

I am proud to work with the Yom Hashoah committee to make sure this happens here in Greater Manchester, alongside our city-region’s wider Jewish community.

Andy Burnham ~ Mayor of Greater Manchester

“By keeping the memory alive we can say, ‘This is what happened in Europe when prejudice and discrimination took control; this is what will always happen.’ In the present climate, this isn't just a historical thing; it has immediacy.”

Marina Smith MBE ~ Co-founder National Holocaust Centre
